G L Lewin Pastel Gouache Portrait Signed Circa 1848 Rococo Frame
Portrait is signed by Lewin, with middle initial monogram, and date, on a pastel gouache. Female portrait in dark up do brown hair, visibly shaded face. She is wearing a light grey dress with green trimming, of velvet fabric. designed with pink bow, her long neck is decorated in gold necklace over her décolleté dress. a silver bracelet on her wrist, and two gold rings on her fingers. her hand is laying on a mahogany arm chair posing for photographer (painter) to create her image. women, unable to identify if married as her other hand is covered, in decorated sleeve, and scripted signature. painted, in pencil crayons, on a paper with brown background. The entire signature is hard to identify. as it seems, signed by G L Lewin, dated 1848. scripted i light grey pencil on the lower right (images). The art is updated recently framed decorated, in Rococo gold leaf wood alike. Multiple listed artist by Lewin is identified on Ask Art, the signature however, could not be verified. we reserve the right to amend and update with future information. the portrait is in stunning condition, with signs of shaded aged imperfections as survived over 100 years. The protected glass cover applied to preserve the painting, which has not been protected before, as was contacted on the pastel and left brownish stains on the face of the portrait. The back is covered in professional fabric secured with metal nails.
