History of baskets dates back to 19th century when required containers to gather, store, and transport goods. Collector's in today fashion, influenced by the country look, focused on baskets made of splint, rye straw or willow. The emphasis is placed on handmade examples. Nails or staples, wide splints, which are thin with evenly cut, or a wire ball handle, which denotes factory constructions.
Baskets collected are to be in very good condition. Deteriorated baskets, damaged, or with visible imperfect are a poor investments.
