in 1871 David Henry Haeger, a young son of German immigrants, acquired a factory at Dundee, Illinois. A brick factory, rebuilt Chicago after their great fire in 1871. Many generation of Haeger have been associated with ceramic industry. David's descendants have pursued to the present time. Haeger progressed to include art works in 1914's in their productions. In 1930's they began to make a line of commercial dinnerware, which was marketed through Marshall Fields. Haeger artware was successful so they established plants in Macomb , Illinois. 

Royal Haeger was their premium line, beginning in 1938 and continued in the modern day. Chief designer in 40's was Royal Alden Hickman, a sculptor, talented artist, also worked in medium other than pottery. For Haeger he designed a wonderful stylish animals such as birds, high style vases and human figures. the arts were in extreme detailing. his designs are highly regarded by collector's in today market.
