Art Deco Gerz Tankard Pewter Zinn Cover Made in West Germany Outdoor Scene
Made in West Germany by Gerz. A tall ceramic likely art deco pottery tankard/ stein, ornate, in detailing, etching, colors and chasing, also multiple marks and stamps. A remarkable outdoor scene, decorated, with musician, drinking, figures of men and a woman, in sitting position, playing flute, saluting, & signing. one is wearing hat, playing, others in colorful outfits.. Floral border, geometric circles. This attractive ceramic tankard, is hand painted in bold and statement colors over off white, egg shell background, with green, pink, brown, red, orange, blue and white, grape wines, trees, textures and relief. the cover is of 94% zinn, and pewter, with flip, and charming textured handle. Marked inside the cover, in symbols of holy figure, Triangle Gerz, and 94% zinn. The stein is in fabulous almost perfect condition. the base is stamped with impressed mark, likely to be from around 1940's, with characteristic of triangle mark which created about circa 1900's.
overall dimension: 9.5" H. x from handle to the end 6" W. x base is covered with green felt protection dots, is 3.5" diam with stamp and impressive marks of West Germany and Gerz.
