JB Art Nouveau Style Bronze Jewelry Box Monogrammed Numbered
made by Jenning Bros. A vintage box Initial JB numbered 1410. A bronze jewelry box, floral bow designed . A keep sake square box, incredible workmanship, Rococo style. Decorated bows bloom flowers on each corner, geometric, 2" center medallion. hinged, with condition issue. A visible crack, is noted on the images. Base is beautifully designed in relief and bubbles, initialed on the corner with foundry number. The interior is lined in fiery red velvet. The cover, is aged, with spots result of being around for so long. we date this likely from post art nouveau era. The actual JB is known to have initial signature, and numbers which this box has them both.
measuring: 1.25" H. x Square 4" and slightly footed in mm.
Jenning bros. foundry operation were in Bridgeport Ct. started 1890 moved to Elm street, and was out of business in 1950's . sold and taken over by another company and factory in Philadelphia PA utilizing the casts and making replica objects.
They are quite popular in public, and private auctions.
