Legras Cameo Tulips France Glass Vases In Pair
Pair of Frosted Cameo Tulips cameo clear glass Legras vases are Signed in etch, Beautiful blown, aged, excellent with normal wear. They are Made in France. 8.5" h. x 3" x 2". Research indicates: Legras, was established by Auguste Jean Francois Legras in about 1864. By The end of the century it had specialized in acid etched and enameled cameo glass inspired by that made by Emille Galle, France\'s Lead maker of decorative Glass in the fashionable art Nouveau Style. During the first decade of the 1900, Legras & Cie became a major exponent of the Ecole De Nancy. (School of Nancy) led by Galle. The firm produced a wide variety of commercial art glass, both cameo and painted in enamels, but also made some large high quality pieces for international exhibitions. only a few of these more elaborate examples have survived. A complex Technique, unusual design, lavish decoration may intricate these pieces. Legras and Cie continued production until about 1914 and after WWI merged with Pantin glass works to form Verrieries et Cristalleries de St. Denis at Pantin Reunies.
