About the artist Leonard Scheu (1904-1995) was a well-known artist who studied at the California School of Fine Arts and the Art Students League in New York. He moved to Laguna Beach in 1938 and became a prominent figure in the local art colony. He was an avid traveler, and his body of work includes drawings and paintings of diverse architectural subjects, landscapes, and figures from across North America and Europe.
This Drawing in pencil, combines several subjects in a single composition. The main focus is an architectural study of a building, possibly a mission or church, with a bell tower and palm trees. It also includes smaller figure studies of faces and a group of people in the background.
